All people in Lake Worth deserve to be fairly represented. Commissioner Scott Maxwell has a history of associating with anti-immigrant hate groups. As seen on his website and radio show, he associates with members of right wing militias and groups bankrolled by the racist 'Pioneer Fund'. This was not a show for debating immigration issues. It's function was to feature anti-immigrant voices and network on behalf of hate groups. This site is intended to educate Lake Worth residents.

Scott Maxwell hosted this Arizona Senator with neo-nazi affiliations on radio
Here’s a link to story about another one of Scott Maxwell’s radio show guests, Senator Pearce
Lake Worth candidate Scott Maxwell affiliated with racist, anti-immigrant hate groups
Former Lake Worth City Commissioner, Scott Maxwell, is running for election. Recent research has exposed his affiliations with organizations deemed ‘hate groups’ by Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and Anti-defamation League (ADL) for their racist and xenophobic bigotry.
In May 2009, Scott Maxwell boasted about hosting Steven Camarota, Director of Research for the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), an anti-immigrant think tank, on his radio show entitled ‘Connecting the Dots’, through his website BorderControlNow.com . In a special report earlier this year, SPLC presented the untold history of CIS and their founding. An excerpt from report can be viewed below, along with a link to the full article:
http://www.splcenter.org/intel/nativist_cis.jsp
From SPLC:
“Although the think tank bills itself as an “independent” organization with a “pro-immigrant” if “low-immigration” vision, the reality is that CIS has never found any aspect of immigration that it liked.
“There’s a reason for that. Although you’d never know it to read its materials, CIS was started in 1985 by a Michigan ophthalmologist named John Tanton—a man known for his racist statements about Latinos, his decades-long flirtation with white nationalists and Holocaust deniers, and his publication of ugly racist materials. CIS’ creation was part of a carefully thought-out strategy aimed at creating a set of complementary institutions to cultivate the nativist cause—groups including the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and NumbersUSA. As is shown in Tanton’s correspondence, lodged in the Bentley Historical Library at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Tanton came up with the idea in the early 1980s for “a small think tank” that would “wage the war of ideas.”
Earlier examples
Maxwell’s affiliations are also noticeable in a posting on the website of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), where Maxwell is credited with defeating a local effort for Consular IDs in collaboration with FAIR:
http://www.fairus.org/site/PageServer?pagename=research_researchc733
In 2007, SPLC added FAIR to their list of organized hate groups due to their ties to known racists and a long track record of bigotry.
FAIR is so bad that the SPLC has them on their "Hate Watch" and periodically updates their on-going anti-immigrant efforts.

Lake Worth Candidate Scott Maxwell, tied to anti-immigrant militias and racist hate groups, also opposed Lake Worth Resource Center
Scott Maxwell has often presented himself as being openly anti-immigrant. Until recently, he hosted a weekly radio program called “Connecting the Dots on Illegal Immigration”, Thursdays 8pm on WBZT 1230 Clear Channel. He ended the radio show upon his candidacy for City Commission.
He attended the City of Lake Worth public meetings when they were voting to open the Resource Center to help provide employment for residents, and to get Day Laborers off the street corners. At that meeting he spoke against the center, I have included his comment from the official City Clerk meeting minutes (source, page 14:

His entire comment can be found on the official Clerk recording of the meeting. The meeting was held September 2, 2008
“Scott Maxwell said this was an important night for Lake Worth. The decision of the Commission would send an important message to its residents, businesses and developers, and America that the City sold its soul and pandered to those who tried to come to the country and improve themselves. The federal government allowed immigrants to get away with entering the country illegally. This was one of the most generous countries to allow legal immigrants to enter. With enough people, the government and the political country could be taken over. He said he was against Matricular Consular Identification and opposed the center."
Further proof of his vocal opposition to immigrants can be found in this email posted on the website of City blogger Lynn Anderson. (source: http://lynn-a.blogspot.com/2009/05/e-mail-from-scott-maxwell-on-illegals.html):
"Lynn,
This week’s guest will be Steven Camarato, Director of Research for the Center for Immigration Studies. I really appreciate your being on top of this issue....hopefully we as Americans, will wake up and place some of our petty issues aside for the resolution of some of the more important.... Our country is in a terrible fight for survival...we are going to meet the same fate as all the other great civilizations before us...too bad that again, folks refuse to learn from history... .
Best, Scot"
